Sherpa
SYLLABICATION: Sher·pa
PRONUNCIATION: AUDIO: shûrp     KEY
NOUN: Inflected forms: pl. Sherpa or Sher·pas
A member of a traditionally Buddhist people of Tibetan descent living on the southern side of the Himalaya Mountains in Nepal and Sikkim. In modern times Sherpas have achieved world renown as expert guides on Himalayan mountaineering expeditions.

Sherpa has another meaning for "Offroad Pirates". On most of our runs we have a twisted individual that enjoys hopping into snake infested water and waste high mud just to hook up your stuck vehicle for recovery. "Brian the Beefcake" has been our resident Sherpa for the last couple of runs. Donations for Brian's services are helping him put his first ride together, a 1981 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler.

So next Pirate Run, be certain to treat the Sherpa right! It will save you water in your shoes and mud on your jeans!
